But the problem is that backup tools do not notify you when a file has been removed or accidentally deleted. Files Angel keeps track of all files, so you can see when a file is missing and so you know WHEN to use the "recovery" feature or your backup tool(s). 1) What is Backup ?In information technology, a backup or the process of backing up refers to making copies of data so that these additional copies may be used to restore the original after a data loss event.See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backup 2) Why use Backup ? What is RecoveryBackup is important when your data is important to you. For example if your computer contains years of holiday and family pictures, you clearly want a safe backup.Now when computer is lost, the "Recovery" function allows you to restore the original data. 3) Then, what is missing in backup tools ?In general, backup tools perform their work very well. For example you can use the Windows Backup, or Mozy online backup, or a USB external drive, etc.This works quite well in case of dramatic loss of your data: when your computer crashes or is lost, you can just restore the original data. What does not work so well, is the case where a few files are accidentally deleted from your disk. It might be a small drive failure (internally fixed by CHKDSK), or it might be caused by the crash of an application. Or maybe by a wrong usage or a simple mistake. In such cases, you have backup versions of your files, but you do not know that files have been lost and should be restored. The goal of Files Angel is to help you keep track of files, so you know if any file has been lost. 4) What are the features or Files Angel ?Files Angel quickly scans your files.It can use simple directory and file filters to skip unimportant files or directories. It records the date files have been added, checked and deleted. A very simple user interface lets you see deleted files, double-check if deletion is normal, and write a quick comment if you wish.
